Michael Lightman

Program Manager , NYC ACRE and Clean Start

Mike Lightman is the program manager at NYC ACRE, New York’s clean tech incubator. ACRE is one of three incubators owned and operated by NYU and the Polytechnic School of Engineering. They work with hardware and software startups that range across the clean tech and smart city fields. Aside from hosting many traditional incubator services, ACRE provides two unique items for companies in their program. First, they are able to leverage their relationships with NYSERDA and NYCEDC to help their startups communicate with many of the city infrastructure ‘customers.’ Secondly, they are plugged directly into the university help identify, train, and employ the best talent for their members.

Mike’s dive into the industry started when he worked with clean tech entrepreneurs while serving in the Peace Corps in Morocco. Since then he has done sales, wind energy technology, and was most recently a senior analyst at Excell Partners, a seed stage VC fund in upstate New York.
