Cofounder , General Assembly
Jake Schwartz and his cofounders started General Assembly in
January 2011 as a community for entrepreneurs and start-up companies. Jake saw the possibility for a new business model, serving the community that they founded through education. A community where entrepreneurs can build, change or start a career, it emphasized practical outcomes tailored to its students’ specific plans. General Assembly launched its first class in February 2011,
with 15 students who wanted to study web development.
Today, General Assembly enrolls 1,500 students each quarter, at 12 campuses across four continents. General Assembly offers full-time immersive programs, classes and workshops on the 21st century’s most relevant skills, including web development, user-experience design, business fundamentals, data science, product management and digital marketing.
