President Obama Visits 1776 to Kick Off Fourth of July Weekend

President Barack Obama started off his Fourth of July weekend with a trip to 1776, greeting entrepreneurs and making remarks about the newly released jobs report. Obama toured the campus and met with 1776 startups before speaking to an audience of members about the importance of moving America forward.

1776 is a startup incubator and accelerator platform for companies that will change our lives as citizens. President Obama spoke with entrepreneurs working on solutions in education, energy, transportation, health and other important industries today.

“America is moving forward—do not forget that,” Obama said. “Often we harp on what’s wrong but improvement is very much present.”

His brief remarks highlighted the economic growth and improvements the country has seen since Obama took office in 2008. Notably, he highlighted the 288,000 jobs added to economy last month. June wrapped up “the best five-month stretch of job creation since early 2006,” the Wall Street Journal reported earlier this morning.

We could not have imagined a more patriotic way to start our Fourth of July weekend and appreciate the support that the President showed our member companies today.
