Next week is the Challenge Cup Global Finals & Festival! Every year 1776 hosts thousands of entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers and innovators from around the world in Washington, D.C.
The Festival takes place in different venues throughout the city as we try to give our visitors a taste of our hometown! Next week’s events will be at…
Opening Party — Tuesday, June 7
The Challenge Festival will kick off in the heart of the city at Carnegie Library. Located on the historic Mount Vernon Square, the Library was donated by Andrew Carnegie, a famous entrepreneur and businessman. We couldn’t think of a better spot to welcome everyone to the Festival with live music, food, drinks and a few surprises (hint: VR may be involved)!
Long View Gallery
Semifinals & After-Party — Wednesday, June 8
Long View Gallery has been a staple in the up-and-coming Shaw neighborhood of D.C. From local artists to Sir Richard Branson, the Gallery’s urban space has played host to many visiting the area, and now 30-plus entrepreneurs from around the world will pitch there next week as they compete to advance to Global Finals. We’ll be there, drinks in hand, cheering them on.
Semifinals & After-Party — Thursday, June 9
If it’s good enough for Duke Ellington, then we think it’s good enough for us! Lincoln Theatre is right in the middle of the historic U Street corridor with a storied past to match. From jazz legends to the 30-plus international startups pitching there on Thursday, the Theatre’s stage is sure to delight.
Global Finals & Closing Party — Friday, June 10
One more angle, because it’s a pretty amazing spot. The finalists will deliver their best pitches on Friday for the chance to win the grand prizes of the $175,000 cash grant and up to $1 million in investment, and the crowd will vote for one favorite to win $10,000. Afterward, the party will keep going into the outdoor space behind the Theatre to close the week in style.
