Lisa Ellman is a Counsel in the Washington, D.C. office of McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP and serves as co-chair of the firm’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Practice Group. She is also a member of the firm’s Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs practice. Ms. Ellman uses her experience in the Federal government to help bridge the sizable knowledge gap between government policymaking and business innovation.
In February 2015, she was featured in Fortune magazine’s “Most Powerful Women” series for her efforts to develop policy to govern drone use in the domestic United States. In March 2015, Ms. Ellman delivered her “Privacy in the Age of Drone Fever” talk at the 22nd Annual South by Southwest Interactive Festival, focusing on the intersection of the benefits that drones provide and the legitimate fears that drones will invade privacy while noting that smart rules are needed to offer protection of privacy while fostering innovation.
