1776 Hires Erin McPike, Veteran National Journalist, to run Communications

Washington, DC – Today, 1776 announced that Erin McPike has joined its senior executive team as Director of Communications. McPike recently covered the White House and a wide range of major national stories as a correspondent in CNN’s Washington bureau.

While serving as a correspondent for CNN, McPike reported breaking news on the release of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, Russia’s incursion into Ukraine, ISIS murders and U.S. budget deliberations. She also provided a range of reports specialized for The Lead with Jake Tapper on the business sector, and she extensively covered the Boston Marathon bombings and the bridge scandal affecting New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s administration.

In previous editorial roles, McPike repeatedly broke news and wrote major enterprise pieces on national trends in government and politics that spanned multiple industries involved in 1776’s network, including energy and health care. She covered the 2012 presidential election for RealClearPolitics and the politics behind major legislative initiatives on Capitol Hill for National Journal during the first term of the Obama administration.
